From Nothing to Everything: Hindu Mythology's Epic Tale of Universe Creation

According to Hindu mythology, the creation of the universe is a complex and intriguing story. It is believed that the universe goes through cycles of creation, preservation, and destruction. The Hindu scriptures, particularly the Rig Veda, provide insight into the creation story.

In the beginning, there was only darkness and chaos. This state of disorder was known as "pralaya," which means dissolution. It was during this period that the three main deities of Hinduism, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, emerged from the cosmic egg or "Hiranyagarbha."

Brahma is known as the creator, Vishnu as the preserver, and Shiva as the destroyer. These three deities work in harmony to maintain balance in the universe. Brahma, the creator, is responsible for the creation of the physical universe, while Vishnu preserves it, and Shiva destroys it when the time comes.

The Rigveda describes how Lord Brahma created the universe. He first created the sky, then the earth, and then the oceans. He then created the sun, moon, and stars, followed by the mountains, rivers, and forests. Lord Brahma then created the animals and human beings, giving them the ability to think, reason, and create.

After creating the universe, Brahma realized that he needed help in maintaining it. He created a set of deities known as "devas" to assist him in his task. These devas were assigned specific tasks to help maintain the universe.

In Hindu mythology, it is believed that the universe goes through four cycles of creation, preservation, and destruction. Each cycle is known as a "yuga," and the four yugas are Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga.

The Satya Yuga is considered the golden age, where everything was perfect, and people lived in harmony with each other and nature. The Treta Yuga saw the decline of morality, and people began to experience disease and suffering. The Dvapara Yuga was a time of wars and conflicts, and the Kali Yuga, the current age, is considered the darkest age, where humanity is plagued by greed, corruption, and selfishness.

The creation of the universe according to Hindu mythology is a complex and intriguing story that has been passed down through generations. It provides insight into the Hindu worldview and the importance of maintaining balance and harmony in the universe. The myth also teaches us valuable lessons about humility and morality
